ClauseMate complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use ClauseMate.

• Email address (for cloud sync accounts)
• Device ID (for device-based authentication)
• Authentication data (bcrypt-hashed PIN, biometric preferences)
• User role selection

• Search queries and clause lookups
• ClauseWizz AI interactions (text, voice, and image inputs)
• Calculator inputs and results
• Device activity logs (search, AI chat, vision, voice, calculator usage)

• User-uploaded PDFs (e.g. AS/NZS 3000 standards) — stored in session-scoped storage
• Notes and bookmarks saved against search results

• Processed securely by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers or payment details
• Subscription status and entitlement records are stored to manage access

We use your data to:

• Provide clause search, ClauseWizz AI, and calculator functionality
• Generate compliance reports and quick reference lookups
• Enable cloud sync for cross-device account access
• Process subscriptions and manage premium entitlements via Stripe
• Monitor usage patterns for diagnostic purposes and abuse prevention
• Deliver announcements and app updates

Your inputs (text queries, uploaded images, and voice recordings) may be processed by AI services to provide ClauseWizz responses, transcriptions, and voice readback.

We:

• Do NOT use your data to train public AI models
• Only process data necessary to generate responses to your specific queries
• Ground AI responses in your uploaded standards content where available

We implement:

• Bcrypt hashing for PINs and authentication credentials
• Session-scoped isolation for uploaded PDFs (not shared between users)
• Server-side brute-force lockout protection
• Secure PostgreSQL database storage with access controls

However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device and login credentials.

We do NOT sell your personal data.

We may share data with:

• AI service providers — to process ClauseWizz queries, voice transcription, and image analysis
• Stripe — to process subscription payments and manage billing
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate and maintain the Service

Some data may be processed outside Australia (e.g. AI service providers or cloud infrastructure). We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations.

• Uploaded PDFs are stored in session-scoped storage and may be cleared when sessions expire
• Chat history is retained to support conversation continuity
• Device activity logs are retained for diagnostic purposes
• Account data is retained until you request deletion

Under the Privacy Act 1988, you may:

• Request access to your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (where applicable)

ClauseMate is designed for electrical professionals and is not intended for individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
